# AI credits and pages

> What a credit is, what a page is, and how both are counted.

Each workspace comes with a monthly allowance of AI credits and a total allowance of pages. See both in **Settings**, under **Usage**.

## AI credits

- One AI answer uses one credit.
- Search is free. Finding a page never uses a credit.
- Credits reset on the first of every month.

When the month's credits are gone, 1,000 more are $20, paid once. Email [support@chat.sh](mailto:support@chat.sh) to add them.

## Pages

Pages measure how much your help center answers from:

- **An article or web page** counts one page for every 2,500 characters of text. A short one still counts as one page.
- **A PDF** counts each of its pages.

What does not count:

- Drafts
- Web pages that could not be fetched
- Images and link addresses

## At the limit

If a change would take the workspace past its page allowance, saving is stopped with a note saying how many pages it would make. Unpublish or remove something to make room.
