# Create a workspace

> Open a new help center with its own address, articles, and team.

A workspace is one help center: its own address, articles, collections, and team. Each workspace uses one lifetime, so buy one on the pricing page first.

## Create it

1. Sign in with the email address you paid with.
2. Open the workspace menu at the top of the sidebar and choose **New workspace**.
3. Enter a **Name**. This is how the workspace is labelled for you and your team.
4. Enter a **Slug**. It becomes the address of your help center, as in `acme.chat.sh`.
5. Select **Create workspace**.

The address under the Slug field shows exactly where the help center will be.

## Choosing a slug

- Use 3 to 48 letters, numbers, or hyphens.
- Start and end with a letter or a number, and do not put two hyphens in a row.
- A few short words are kept for chat.sh itself, like `app` or `docs`. Pick another if one is taken.

The slug is part of every link to your help center, so choose one you will keep. To change it later, email [support@chat.sh](mailto:support@chat.sh).

## More than one workspace

You can buy several workspaces in one purchase. Each one you create uses one of them, and the dialog shows how many you have left.
