# Write and publish an article

> Create an article, put it in a collection, and make it live.

## Create an article

1. Open **Help center**.
2. Select **Add a new source**, then **Create a new article**.
3. Write a **Title**. It is the heading readers see at the top of the page.
4. Write a **Description**: one sentence about what the article covers. It shows in search results and helps the AI find the article.
5. Write the body. Use headings to break it into sections; readers can jump between them.
6. Pick a **Collection**, or create one right there.
7. Set the status to **Published** and select **Save**.

## Draft or published

- **Draft** keeps the article to your team. It is not on the site, not in search, and not used for answers.
- **Published** puts it on the site. It shows up in search and answers straight away.

You can switch an article back to draft at any time.

## The article address

Each article lives at `/articles/your-slug`. The slug is filled in from the title; change it before you share the link. If you rename it later, the old address keeps sending readers to the new one.

## Common questions

Tick **Show under Common questions on the home page** to list the article on the home page. Use it for the handful of questions readers ask most.
